In February 2014 Gordon Young, internationally acclaimed artist, installed his seven Bird Sculptures in Mill Road Cemetery. This work, which comprises six stone sculptural pieces and a wooden seat, was sponsored by Cambridge City Council Public Art Work scheme.
All six ‘Bird Stones’ and the wooden seat are inscribed with poetry related to the chosen bird, and a phonetic rendition of its song. The stones have perches and water wells.
