Melody Bardsley (c.June 1894 – 15 August 1895)
Melody was the daughter of Edward Wade Bardsley and his wife Melody (née Clarke). Edward (1866- 1925) was the son of the Bishop of Carlisle and studied at St. John’s College, leaving with a B.A. in 1890 and an M.A. in 1897. He married Melody Clarke (1867 – 1954)on 15 August 1893 at St. Andrew’s Church in Southport. Melody was originally from Cambridge and had been brought up at 37 Warkworth Street. Melody was Edward and Melody’s only daughter and she died at her grandmother’s house aged 1 year old.
Edward and Melody appear to have split their time between Liverpool and Cambridge and he practised as a solicitor with Roderick, Williams and Bardsley of 14, Castle Street in Liverpool. Edward Bardsley committed suicide in Cambridge in June 1925. At the inquest his twin brother Francis said he had ‘lost heavily in betting’. His widow Melody went to live in Bath with her two sister-in-laws where she died in 1954.
