Cecilia Bernard (c.1829 – 3 December 1891)

Cecilia was the daughter of Herman Hedwig and Sylphia Bernard, and was born in Prussia.  Herman Bernard [1785-1857] was a teacher of Hebrew who moved to Cambridge in the 1850’s. In 1851 Cecilia was living with her mother on Parker Street in Cambridge.  Herman Bernard died in November 1857 when Cecilia was 28 years old.  In 1861 the widowed Sylvia Herman was living with her daughter at 2 Alma Terrace., just off Parkers Piece. Cecilia was working as a governess in that year.

When her mother died in 1871, Cecilia continued to live at Alma Terrace with her sisters and a servant [1871/1881].  By 1891 the sisters had moved to 6 Mortimer Road. just off Mill Road.  Cecilia died there in December 1891 aged 72 years old. She left an estate valued at £3,242 and 11s.

 

Annie Bernard (c.1831 – 5 January 1892)

Annie was the youngest daughter of Herman and Sylphia Bernard.  She was also born in Prussia.  She lived at Alma Terrace, and then 6 Mortimer Road. She died a month after her Cecilia in January 1892, leaving an estate valued at £1,188 14s and 11d

 

Rosalie Bernard (c.1822 – 4 January  1896)

Rosalie was the eldest daughter of Herman and Sylphia Bernard – and was also bornin Prussia! After both of her sisters died she continued to live at 6 Mortimer Road, but died at Cromwell House in Huntingdon. She left an estate valued at £9,825 12s and 11d,
