Emily Elizabeth Blunden (nee Mutton) (17 June 1851 – 31 December 1892)

Emily was born in Cambridge and was the daughter of William and Sarah Mutton.  William was a carver and guilder, and Emily was raised at 9 St John’s Street.  She married Henry Blunden in Islington in early 1869.  They had one daughter: Edith Florence (1869-1933).  The family lived at 53 Bridge Street and Emily died there in 1892 aged 41 years old.

Henry James Blunden (8 September 1844 – 19 November 1922)

Henry was born in Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex, and was baptised at St Mary the Virgin Church on 20th October 1844.  He was the son of James and Esther Eliza Blunden and grew up on the High Street in Burnham-on-Crouch, where his father worked as a gardener.  Henry worked as a grocer’s assistant [1871], a commercial clerk (1881) and as a fishmongers clerk (1891).

He was 48 years old when he was widowed and continued to live at 53 Bridge Street until at least 1898.  In 1896 he was listed in Kelly’s Directory as offering apartments to rent at Bridge Street. By 1901 he was lodging with the Shipp family at 3 Hall Cottages, and working as a clerk.  He was a butcher’s clerk in 1911, and lodging at the Dog and Duck Pub on the High Street in Chesterton. Henry died in Cambridge aged 78 years old.
