William Samuel Brown (c.1874 – 15 March 1909)
William was born in Saffron Waldren and married Florence Mary Hankin (Florrie) (1876-1955) in Cambridge in 1897. In 1901 they were living in West Ham, London and William was working as a general labourer. They had two sons: William John Samuel (1901-1974) and Reginald Wilfred(1905-1983). William Jnr was born in London, but the couple had returned to live at Kingston Street by the time Reginald was born in April 1905. William died in 1909 aged 34, and in 1911 Florrie was living at 32 St. Matthews Street with her sons. She worked as a college bedmaker and lived with son Reginald until her death.
