Charles George Butler (1871-1938)

Charles was the son of  railway engine fitter William and Martha (née Piddock) and was born at George Street. He grew up at Caius Street (1881/1891) and 78 Gwydir Street (1901/1911) and lived with his parents until their deaths.  Charles worked as a grocer’s assistant and married Lizzie Swan in 1917 when he was 46 years old. He died at 16 Hartington Grove.

Lizzie Butler (née Swan) (14 December 1881 – 9 January 1952)

Lizzie was the daughter of Robert and  Elizabeth (née Faris) and grew up at 3 Round Church Street.  Robert Swan worked as a college gyp and before her marriage Lizzie was a dressmaker. She continued to live at 16 Hartington Grove after Charles’ death, and died at the Evelyn Nursing Home aged 70 years old.
