Monument
This headstone, with rounded top, is located five rows north of the path leading from the centre circle to the east path, in the parish area of St Mary the Less. It is close to the imposing stone column of Hermann Bernard.

Ann Castle (nee Garnham) (1815-1881)
Ann was born in Rickinghall Superior, Suffolk on 22nd October 1815. She married Henry Castle (b 1805 Bury St Edmunds) on 2nd March 1835 at Rickinghall Superior. They had three children, Emma, William and Charlotte. Sadly, father Henry and son William both died in Rickinghall in 1845. Ann’s surviving daughters went into service in Cambridge. She latterly lived with her daughter Charlotte until her death in 1881.
Emma Garnham Overton (née Castle) (1835-1891)
Emma was born in Rickinghall Superior, Suffolk in 1835. She worked as a servant on Trumpington Street before marrying Henry Greef Overton in Little St Mary’s Church in Cambridge in 1965. Together they had six children. Emma died in Cambridge in December 1890 aged 55.
Charlotte Gatward (née Castle) (1838- 1902)
Sister of Emma, was born in Rickinghall Superior, Suffolk in 1838. She married John Gatward in Camberwell in 1867. They spent most of their married life in the cottages around 7-12 Tennis Court Road in Cambridge. They had three children, Elizabeth Maud, Herbert and Alan. She died in autumn 1908.
Henry Greef Overton (1839- 1922)
Husband of Emma, he was born in King’s Lynn, Norfolk on 16th August 1839 and was raised in Swaffham, Norfolk. He was the nephew of Thomas Greef, partner in the then well known Cambridge plumbing and glazing business Westwood & Greef on King’s Parade. Henry and his only son Harry Lessey Overton shared the trade of plumber. He latterly lived at 52 and 50 Bradmore Street (the site now being part of the Anglia Ruskin campus) and at 88 Mawson Road. He died on 4th April 1922. Henry’s first cousin is Anna Maria Greef.
Alan Castle Gatward (1883-1902)
Alan, the youngest child of John and Charlotte Gatward, was born in summer 1883 in Cambridge. In 1901 he was boarding at the so-called Home for Feeble-Minded Boys (John Nicks), Upshire Bury, Copt Hall, Waltham Abbey. He died the year after and was buried with his grandmother and aunt at Mill Road Cemetery.
John Gatward (d 1929)
John, husband of Charlotte, was born in Therfield, near Royston, Hertfordshire. He worked as a college servant. He died in spring 1929.
