William Frederick Challice (c.1826 – 30 August 1898)
William was born in Cambridge and was the son of Prior and Eliza Challice. He was baptised at St Mary the Less Church on 26th November 1826. Prior was a Lodging House Keeper and William grew up at Jesus Lane  and later at 24 Green Street . By the age of 13 he was working as a book binder, and continued to do this until he died.
He married Mary Briggs on 10th June 1852. They had at least five children: Frederick Easton Berkeley [1853-1924], Rev Walter David [1845-1934], Georgiana Mary [1857-1888], Emily Florence [1860-1952] and Kate Eliza [1863-1948].
They lived at Victoria Road , Histon Road  and then at 23 Jesus Lane [at least 1881 onwards]. His occupation on the 1881 census is recorded as ‘book binder and edge gilder’. He died at 23 Jesus Laen in August 1898.
Mary Challice [nee Briggs](24 May 1829 – 8 August 1893)
Mary was the daughter of David and Sarah Briggs. She was born in Cambridge, her father worked as a carpenter. In 1851 she was living on Victoria Road with her widowed father and working as a dressmaker. She married William Challice when she was 23 years old. She died aged 64 years old in 1893.
Georgiana Mary Challice (1857 – 28 October 1888)
Georgiana was the eldest daughter of William and Mary Challice. She was baptised on 26th July 1857. She appears to have lived at home with her parents for her whole life, and is not recorded with an occupation on any census return. She died aged 31 years old in Cambridge.
