Monument

This chest tomb, located against the west wall towards the south of the parish of St Andrew the Great, has no visible inscription. The grave register shows that Charlotte Pattinson was buried here. Since the photo was taken the lid of the tomb has been displaced.

Charlotte Pattinson (c 1782 – 1851)

Little is known about Charlotte’s life. She died in New Square and was buried on 18 January 1851. In the 1851 census a 25 year old William John Pattinson was lodging in New Square. He was a member of the university.  A Richard and Charlotte Pattinson had a son in 1825.  The 1841 census shows a 58 year old Charlotte Pattinson living with a Richard Pattinson in Stoke Doyle, Northamptonshire. Richard was a farmer. We do not know when Richard died but we do know that William became a clergyman and served in several Northamptonshire parishes.
