Inscription
‘Cyril Arthur Child Jan 23 1900 – April 7 1902’
“Suffer me to come to Thee”
Cyril Arthur Child (1900-1902)
Cyril, who was baptised on 18 February 1900, died aged 2. His parents were Charles James Napoleon Child, priest (he baptised Cyril and several of his other children) and Gertrude Annie Louisa Child (née Hall).
The couple were married on 4 April 1899, thus Cyril must have been their first child. By 1900, they lived at Ashton House, Newnham, Cambridge and by 1903 at ‘Lynfield’, 19 Tenison Avenue. The couple had at least five other children: Mary Veronica (b 1901), Monica Gertrude (b 1903), Eric Charles (b 1905), Hereward John (bapt. 1909) and Margerite Isobel (b 1910).
