Harold John Clark M.M. (1893–1917) was Private (326525) in the 1st Battalion the Cambridgeshire Regiment, formerly Private (3923) in the Cambridgeshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 26 September 1917 aged 24. At this time his Battalion was engaged in action at the Second Battle of Passchendaele on the Western Front. He is buried in Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Belgium (III. B. 9.).
Harold was born in Cambridge in 1893. He was the eldest of six children born to John Clark and Jane Clark (née Crabb). Harold became a bookseller’s porter. He enlisted at Cambridge as Private (3923) in the Cambridgeshire Regiment. He then transferred and became Private (326525) in the 1st Battalion the Cambridgeshire Regiment. Harold was awarded the Military medal for his actions on 31 July 1917 at St Julien near Ypres. He was killed in action on 26 September 1917 at Tower Hamlets Ridge. At this time his Battalion was engaged in action at the Second Battle of Passchendaele on the Western Front. He was also entitled to the Victory medal and British War medal. He is buried in Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Belgium (III. B. 9.).
