Ralph John Cope (1859 – 3 January 1928)
Ralph was the son of James and Emma Cope. and was born at John Street. His father was a college servant and he grew up on Park Street (1861/1871). James Cope died in 1872 and Ralph then moved with his mother and sister to live at 11 Regent Street. In 1881 Emma was running a lodging house from the address, and Ralph was working as a banker’s clerk and organist. By 1891 Emma Cope was running a lodging house from 9 Park Street and Ralph was living with her and his occupation was noted on the census as being a banker’s clerk.
After his mother’s death he moved to live at 109 Hills Road (1901) and married Eliza Flack on 6 April 1904 at Holy Sepulchre Church. He died at Hills Road aged 68 years old.
Eliza Ellis Cope (née Flack) (4 April 1861 – 4 June 1951)
Eliza was the youngest daughter of George and Eliza (née Ellis) Flack and was baptised at Holy Sepulchre Church on 5 May 1861. She grew up at 58 Park Street and her father worked as a plumber/glazier. After George Flack died in 1883 she lived with her mother and three siblings at Park Street (1901) before marrying Ralph Cope in 1904. After she was widowed she continued to live at 109 Hills Road, but died at the County Infirmary on Mill Road aged 90 years old.
