William Charles Cornell (20 September 1877 – 12 January 1948)
William was born in Cambridge and was the son of William and Ann Cornell. His father worked as a cellarman and William grew up on South Street. By the age of 14 (1891) he was working as a grocer. He married Jessie Broom in Romford in 1904. The couple had at least six children: William Charles (1905-1976), Percy (1907-1979), Frederick Arthur (1909-1909), Edna May (1912-1951), Doris Jessie (1914-1991) and Ellen Faith (1917-1959).
The couple lived in Enfield and William worked as a grocery manager. They were still living in Enfield in 1934, but by 1939 had retired to live at 3 Malcolm Street in Cambridge. William died at home aged 70 years old.
Faith Jessie Cornell (née Broom) (16 March 1883 – 23 August 1968)
Faith appears to have been known as Jessie throughout her life. She was born in Romford and was the daughter of cooper Richard Thomas Broom and his wife Helen (also known as Ellen). In 1901 she was living in Isleworth and working as a housemaid for Henry and Mary Richards. She married William Cornell when she was 21 years old. After being widowed she continued to live at 3 Malcolm Street, dying at home aged 84 years old.
