Frances Mary May Cowles (née Moore) (21 October 1876 – 21 December 1940)
Frances was the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth and grew up at 16 Bentinck Street (1881) and Hertford Street (1891). Her father worked as a printer/compositor and aged 24 (1901) Frances was working as a housemaid on Adams Road in Cambridge. She married Sydney Cowles in the summer of 1901 and they had two daughters: Winifred May (1902-1984) and Margaret Edith (1906-1975). Both girls were born in Cambridge, but by 1910 the family had moved to 179 Hampton Road in Ilford where Sydney worked as an insurance clerk. They never returned to live in Cambridge and lived at 58 Castle View Gardens in Ilford (at least 1935 onwards), where Frances died aged 64 years old.
Sydney Ranner Cowles (7 February 1876 – 20 January 1959)
Sydney was the eldest child of Walter and Fanny (née Gilby) Cowles and was raised at 56 City Road (1881) and 8 Christ’s Lane. His father was a college servant, and by the age of 15 Walter was working as an insurance clerk. He died at 58 Castle View Gardens in Ilford aged 82 years old.
Margaret Edith Cowles (19 November 1906 – 14 June 1975)
Margaret was the youngest daughter of Frances and Sydney and lived at home with her parents. In 1939 she was working as an assistant secretary for the local council. She died at Castle View Gardens aged 68 years old and was buried with her parents after cremation.
