Ann Craghill (c.1808 – 18 January 1892)

Ann was born in Brampton, just outside Huntingdon and worked as a domestic servant throughout her life. In 1841/1851 she was living at Bridge Street, Cambridge and working for tailor William Atkins.  By 1861 William had retired and she was working for him at 3 New Square.  From at least 1871 onwards she lived at the Royal Albert Retirement Homes [then known as the Albert Asylum] on Hills Road, and was described on census returns as an annuitant.  In 1891 she was living there with her sick nurse Mary Kirkshaw, and died at the Albert Homes aged 83 years old.
