By 1881 the family had moved to Cambridge and were living at 1 Eckworth Villas. Henry was working as a clerk. He married Sabina Sizer at Eden Chapel on 29th January 1884 when he was 27 years old.
Henry and Sabina had three children: Dorothy Grace [1886 – 1890], Edith Mercy [1887-] and John Dennis [1895-1962].
In 1891 Henry was a railway clerk, and the family were living at 39 Mill Road with a boarder and a domestic servant. From at least 1896 onwards they lived at 3 Mill Road. Henry died at Addenbrookes Hospital in March 1930 aged 74 years old.
Dorothy Grace Darnell (1886 – 5 August 1890)
Dorothy was the eldest daughter of Henry and Sabina Darnell. She was born in early 1886, and she was registered as Dorothea Grace, but was later known as Dorothy Grace. She died in Thetford aged 4 years old of sunstroke. Newspapers reported that the family had been in Thetford visiting friends.
Sabina Darnell [nee Sizer] (1859 – 19 June 1934)
Sabina was born in Great Wilbraham and was the daughter of bootmaker Thomas Sizer and his wife Eliza. She grew up on Church Street in Great Wilbraham. Aged 22 she was living at 26 Kingston Street with her brother Thomas and working as a dressmaker. She married Henry Darnell in 1884.
