Walter Dodd (1844 – 24 February 1889)
Walter was the son of John and Sarah Dodd. He was born in Rickinghall in Suffolk, and baptised on 24th December 1844. By 1851 he was living in Cambridge, and his father was a fish hawker [sic]. He married Louisa Susannah Looker in 1866 when he was 22 years old.
Walter and Louisa’s lived at 7 Elm Street  and then at 31 Trumpington Street . Walter worked as a cabinet maker. They had at least six children together: Nellie Louisa [1867-1921], Henry Walter [1869-1918], Florence [1872-], Annie [1875-], Jane Sarah [1877-1885] and Lilian Charlotte [1881-]. Walter died in 1889 aged 44 years old
Jane Sarah Dodd (1878 – 10 July 1885)
Jane was the fifth of Walter and Louisa’s children. She died aged 6 years old.
Henry Walter Dodd (c.1869 – 10 April 1918)
Henry was the second of Walter and Louisa’s children. After his father died he helped his mother run the furniture business and worked as a cabinet maker at 31 Trumpington Street . He married Edith Jeffrey in 1900. They had two sons: Walter Noel [1900-1991] and Harold Geoffrey [1904-1928]. Edith and Henry lived at Hauxton Mills, Hauxton and he continued to work as a cabinet maker. He died in 1918aged 49 years old.
Louisa Susannah Dodd [nee Looker] (c.1845 – 1 May 1919)
Louisa was the daughter of Charlotte and Abraham Looker. Abraham was a bricklayer, but died in 1852 when Louisa was 7 years old. In 1861 she was living at 4 Bradmore Street with her widowed mother and grandmother and two siblings. Her mothers occupation is noted as pauper-charwoman [sic]. She married Walter Dodd when she was 21 years old. She was widowed aged 44 in 1889 and then took over the business becoming a cabinet maker. In 1891 she was still at 31 Trumpington Street, but then moved to 1 Wheeler Street . In 1911 she was still at 1 Wheeler Street, but had changed it to be a picture framing shop. She died in 1915 aged 70 years old.
