Alfred John Driver (1845 – 8 December 1913)

Alfred  was the son of baker Alfred and his wife Eliza.  He grew up at Swann Court (1851) and then 14 Hobson Street (1861). Aged 15 (1861) he was working as an errand boy  but later worked as a french polisher.  In 1871 he was living at 2 Burleigh Street by himself, before marrying Adeline Piggott at Christ’s Church on 11 April 1871.

After marriage Alfred worked at Trinity College as a college servant and the family lived at 40 Lower Park Street (1881), 7 Manor Street (1891) and then 27 Malcolm Street (at least 1901 onwards). Alfred and Adeline had four children:  Alfred William (1871-1936), Ethel Adeline (1875-1950), Ernest Arthur (1881-) and Lilian Elsie (1886-1967) and he died aged 68 years old.

Adeline Driver (née Piggott) (1848 – 18 February 1936)

Adeline was born in Grantchester and baptised there on 19 March 1848. She was the daughter of gardener William and his wife Harriott (née Northfield).  Before marrying in 1871 she was working as a domestic servant to James and Emma Ling at 8 Fitzwilliam Street. Adeline was still documented as living at 27 Malcolm Street in 1930 and died aged 88 years old.
