His father worked as a coal porter, his mother was a college bedmaker. By the age of 13 he was working as an errand boy.

In 1891 he was still living at home with his parent at 74 Russell Street and was working as a museum assistant.  In 1901 he was still living at home at Russell Street and was a laboratory assistant.  He married Angelina Brown in 1910.  Thomas and Angelina had two sons: Francis Thomas Noel and Ronald Henry [1921-2002].

In 1911 the family were living at 60 Norwich Street, and Thomas was working as a botany laboratory assistant.  He was still living in Norwich Street when he died at Addenbrookes Hospital aged 58 years old.

Angelina Elborn [nee Brown] (3 October 1876 – 13 March 1948)

Angelina was the daughter of Emily Brown, but was brought up by her step-father Alfred Banyard [Emily’s second husband] from the age of 4 years old.  She was born and raised in Swaffham Bulbeck,  and by the age of 25 was still living at home and working as a domestic servant. She married Thomas Elborn when she was 34 years old.

After being widowed she continued to live at 60 Norwich Street with her two sons [1939]. She died at Norwich Street in 1948 aged 71 years old.
