Charlotte Francis Ellis (22 January 1841 – 24 December 1901)

Charlotte was the eldest daughter of surgeon Robert Sage Ellis and Sarah Elizabeth (née Francis) and was baptised in Swavesey on 21 February 1841.  Her mother died when Charlotte was 10 years old and  Robert married for a second time to Mary Ann Carter in 1852. In 1854 Charlotte began training as a student teacher in Swavesey.  By 1871 Charlotte was living at Shelley Row and was recorded as being a governess of an infants school.  In 1881 she was living at Victoria Road with servant Susanna Storey and was note as being a schoomistress. She retired to live at 1 Bay Terrace, Norwich Street by at least 1901 and died there on Christmas Eve aged 60 years old.
