Frederick Else (25 December 1849 – 11 May 1931)
Frederick was the the son of William and Mary Ann (née Yardy) and was born in March, Cambridgeshire. He was baptised at Holy Sepulchre on 1 June 1862 and aged 21 was working as footman for Dr. Charles Lestourgeon on Huntingdon Road. Frederick married Mary Watson in 1871 (who was the housemaid for the Lestourgeon’s) and they had five children: Mary Elizabeth (1872-1953), Emily (1874-1965), Frederick John (1877-1962), Harry Watson (1880-1943) and Alice Ruth (1885-).
He worked as a live-in waiter at the Angel Hotel, Bury St. Edmunds (1881) and then as a college waiter. The family lived at Covent Garden (1891/1901) and then 32 Cavendish Road (1911 onwards).
Mary Ann Else (née Watson) (1848 – 24 January 1936)
Mary was the daughter of Ebenezer and Sophia (née Bull) and was born in Eynesbury, near St. Neots. Ebenezer Watson was a fellmonger (trader in hides/skins) and Sophia was a sempstress and the family lived at Washbank Lane in Eynesbury. She worked as a servant for the Lestourgeon household where she met husband Frederick Else and was also documented as being a college servant in 1891. Mary died at Cavendish Road aged 88 years old.
