In Loving Memory of JOHN EDWARD EVANS d Nov 25 1914 aged 55
John Edward Evans (1859 – 25 November 1914)
John was born in Denver, Norfolk. He was the son of John and Rebecca Evans – his father was a labourer. He married Mary Wittam in Fritton, Norfolk on 17th February 1889. They had three daughters: Margaret [1889-], Winifred Census [1891-1983] and Mabel Mary [1894-]. Winifred was born on the day of the 1891 census, which perhaps explains her unusual middle name!
In 1891 the family were living at 19 Perowne Street and John was working as a policeman with Great Eastern Railway. In 1901/1911 they were living at 75 Sedgwick Street. John died at home in 1914 aged 55 years old. Probate was given to his widow Mary.
