Robert Fenn ( 1813 – 5 July 1884)
Robert was the son of John and Sarah Fenn and was born in Mildenhall. He was baptised on 6th December 1813 in the town. He married Mary Ashen also in Mildenhall in 1840.
Robert was a bricklayer, and in 1841 the couple were living with her parents in Mildenhall. Robert and Mary had at least seven children: Mary Ann [1845-], Ann Amelia [1848-], Frances Lucy [1851-1869], Henry William [1852-1913], Robert [1853-1931], John [1854-1941] and Arthur [1858-1892].
The family moved regularly and were in Mildenhall Fields , Cemetery Road in Lakenheath  before moving to Cambridge. In 1871 they were at 91 Fitzroy Street, and in 1881 at 38 Bateman Street. In every census return he is described as a bricklayer, save for 1881 when he is described as a retired builder. He died aged 71 years old in Cambridge.
Arthur Fenn ( 1858 – 2 June 1892)
Arthur was the youngest child of Robert and Mary Fenn. He was born in Mildenhall, but was living at 91 Fitzroy Street by the time he was 13 years old in 1871. He worked on the railway as a railway clerk, and in 1881 was living as a lodger in Boston, Lincolnshire.
In 1891 he was still a railway clerk, but was living at 17d Ramsgate in Louth. Jane Hanson, a 71 year old widow was living with him as his housekeeper. He died at 17d Ramsgate aged 34 years old.
Mary Fenn [nee Ashen] (1817 – 25 December 1899)
Mary was born in Mildenhall and baptised there on 6th June 1817. She was the daughter of Henry and Lucy Ashen – Henry was an agricultural labourer. Mary married when she was 23 years old.
After being widowed she continued to live in Cambridge. In 1891 she was living at 4 Mill Street with her granddaughter Bertha [the daughter of son John]. She died on Christmas Day 1899 at the age of 82 years old.
Robert and Mary’s grandson Fritz Fenn is also buried in Mill Road Cemetery.
