George William Fitch (March 20 1830 – October 7 1899)

George was the son of Adam and Theodora Fitch.  His father was a butler at Caius College, Cambridge, and died when George was 10 years old in 1840. After 1840 he lived with his mother until she died in 1865.  They lived firstly at 53 Sidney Street, where he was noted as a solicitor’s clerk in 1851 and later at 14 Sidney Street.

In the census of 1861 he was an attorney and solicitor. Around 1870 he moved to 72 Regent Street, where he practiced as a solicitor until his death in 1899. He did not marry. In Kelly’s Directories he was also noted to be a Clerk of the Peace for the borough.

He died in October 1899 aged 69, leaving effects of £5,363.
