Robert Flack (24 June 1850 – 27 June 1930)
Robert was baptised in Cherry Hinton on 4 July 1852 and was the son of James and Elizabeth. His father was an agricultural labourer and by 1861 the family had moved to 56 Cambridge Place and 10 year old Robert was also working as an agricultural labourer. He married Susan Smith in 1874 and they had seven children: Charles Walter (1876-1950), Frances Elizabeth (1880-1960), William James (1882-), Elizabeth Susan (1886-1977) and three more children who died as infants. The family lived at New Street (1881/1891) for the first years of marriage. Robert worked in the gasworks as a fireman (1881) and later as a stoker (1891) and Susan was a laundress. By 1901 they had moved to Beche Road and he was documented as a general labourer at the gravel pit. Robert died at 44 Beche Road just after his 80th birthday and his funeral took place on 1 July 1930.
Susan Ann Flack (née Smith) (25 February 1857 – 28 April 1944)
Susan grew up at 29 New Street with her parents William and Frances. William was a labourer and aged 13 Susan was a general servant to Charles and Hannah Tarrant who lived on East Road. She married Robert Flack when she was 17 years old and after she was widowed continued to live at 44 Beche Road with son Charles, daughter in law Martha and grand daughter Elsie (1939). She died at home aged 87 years old.
