Sarah Jane Francis (7 March 1846 – 28 October 1928)

Sarah Jane was born in Little Stukeley in Huntingdonshire.  She was the daughter of carpenter George Francis and his wife Sarah.  Aged 15 she was living in Huntingdon and working as a nursemaid in the household of John and Mary Ingram. By 1871 she had moved to Cambridge and was working as a servant at Clare College to Edward and Frances Atkinson. Edward was the Master of Clare College.  She started as a housemaid, and was housekeeper by 1911.

After retiring she went to live at 95 Cherry Hinton Road.  She died there aged 82 years old.
