Sarah was born in Histon and in 1851 was living at Brooklands, Trumpington Road where she was working as a general servant for widow Richard Foster. She married greengrocer Alfred Read Gautrey (1827-1899) in 1852. Alfred later became a general grocer, and the couple lived at 23 Grafton Street (1871). Sarah died at Adam and Eve Row, and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 19 December 1873.

Mary was the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann Pettitt and was born in Saffron Walden. She was baptised at St. Mary the Virgin Church on 18 November 1831 and grew up on Horn Lane in the town, where her father worked as a groom/coachman. Mary worked as a dressmaker, before marrying tailor Charles Lister (1835-1872)  in 1866. The couple lived at 26 Grafton Street, with her father Charles, but she was widowed in July 1872. She married widower Alfred Gautrey in 1875 and they lived at 23 Grafton Street, where Alfred was both a grocer and beer seller. Mary died at 22 City Road aged 65 years old and her funeral was held on 14 January.

Alfred Gautrey remained living in Cambridge until at least 1898. He retired to live at Sheridan Terrace, Hove and died there on Christmas Eve 1899.
