George Henry Wiltshire (1870)

George was probably born in Gloucestershire, the son of George and Mary Ann Wiltshire. He became a stonemason like his father.

On June 26th 1865 George married Mary Ann Smith at all Saint Church in Cambridge. They had a son Henry born 1867,  daughter Laura Mary born 1868 and a son Alfred born 1870.

He died on January 24th at the family home “Dover Cottage” on East Road & was  buried on the 29th aged 30. The announcement in the Cambridge Independent commented “Deservedly esteemed by all who knew him.”

After the death of her husband and newborn baby Mary Ann moved to 27 Regent St where she ran a lodging house.

Alfred Wilshire (1870) Alfred was born3 months after his father’s death on May 7th & privately baptised the same day. He was  3 days old when he was buried on May 10th.
