This badly damaged headstone is roughly 12 rows west of the central path and 10 monuments north the south path. It was exposed during clearance in 2020. Only part of the inscription is visible.

William Hagger (1822 – 22 October 1883)

William was born in Royston, the son of John and Elizabeth. Aged 15 he was working as a servant for Charles and Sarah Hutt, who lived at Manor Street, off King Street. William married Ann Compton on 1 April 1839 at St. Mary the Less Church and they had at least four children: William John (1849-1932), Charles (1855-1929), Agnes (1858-1941) and Henry (1861-1954). They lived at 5 Little St. Mary’s Lane (1851), 5 Russell Place (1861/1871) and 19 Russell Street (1881).  William worked as a servant (1841), painter’s labourer (1851) and then college servant. He died aged 61 years old.

Ann Hagger  (née Compton) (1826 – 14 January 1902)

Ann was the daughter of Henry and Ann (née Brown) and was baptised on Boxing Day 1826 at St. Mary the Less Church.  Henry was a groom and she grew up at Little St. Mary’s Lane. After she was widowed she ran a Lodging House from 18 Russell Street with the help of daughter Agnes, and died at home aged 75 years old.

Agnes Hagger (22 February  1858 – 5 March 1941)

Agnes was the only daughter of William and Ann  – aged 23 she was working as a domestic servant in Hove, Sussex. She returned to Cambridge to help her mother run a Lodging House from 18 Russell Street (1891 onwards) and remained there until her death aged 83 years old. She died at Mill Road Infirmary.
