George Capes Hall (9 April 1866 – 25 January 1947)
George was the youngest son of William and Hannah (née Capes) and was baptised at Holy Sepulchre Church on 13 May 1866. His mother died when he was 5 years old and he grew up with his father, stepmother Mary Jane and siblings at the Hoop Tap pub on Park Street. In 1881 he was living with his paternal grandmother Susannah and was working as a chemistry laboratory assistant. He married Mary in 1890 and they went to live at 2 Priory Street (1891), 63 Alpha Road (1901), 12 Park Parade (1905 – at least 1915) and then 32 Marlowe Road (at least 1920 onwards). The couple did not have any children and George continued to work as a laboratory assistant at Cambridge University. George had retired by 1939 and died at Marlowe Road aged 80 years old.
Mary Elizabeth C Hall (3 May 1864 – 20 December 1941)
Little is known of Mary’s life, except that she was born in Waterbeach and married George Hall when she was 26 years old. On the records of September 1939 she was recorded as being incapacitated and died aged 77 years old.
