Susannah Hardingham (née Colby) (1844 – 6 June 1904)
Susannah was born in Horsleydown, Southwark and grew up in Bermonsey where she was baptised on 4 June 1848. She was the daughter of Joseph and Susannah and grew up at 19 Marine Street where her father was a shoemaker. Aged 17 she was working as a servant at Freeschool Street, Southwark for the Thompson family, before marrying William Hardingham on 26 December 1868. William was a labourer and the couple had at least two sons: William Joseph (1870-1926) and Robert John (1872-1924). From at least 1881-1901 William was a school caretaker and the family lived at Belvedere Place, Southwark. Susannah died at 6 Ashover Terrace, 47 Blinco Grove and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 10 June 1904. It is not known what the family connection to Cambridge was.
William Hardingham (15 June 1840 – 28 October 1926)
William was born in the village of Wendling, near Dereham in Norfolk and was baptised there on 12 July 1840. He was the son of William and Charlotte and grew up in Wendling where his father was an agricultural labourer. He married Susannah Colby when he was 28 years old and died at Mayday Road Hospital, Croydon aged 86 years old. His body was taken to Cambridge and the funeral took place on 2 November 1926.
