Edward James Hart (1844 – 24 April 1921)

Edward was the son of Joseph and Harriot (née Moore) Hart and was baptised on 25 December 1844.  His father was a bookbinder and he grew up at Park Street and then Brandon Place. By the age of 16 he was working as a printer/compositor and then married Amelia Beales in 1869.  In 1871 they were living at 21 Brandon Place, just two doors down from his parents before moving to live at 26 John Street (at least 1874 onwards).

Edward and Amelia had at least nine children: Joseph William (1870-1939), Edward Beales (1871-1951), Charles Arthur (1873-1951), Harriett Amelia Mary (1875-1900), Percy (1877-1946), Sidney Robert (1879-1880), Lilian Beatrice (1881-1966), Harry Robert (1884-1960) and William Beales (1887-1960).  Edward worked as a printer throughout his life and lived at John Street until at least 1911. He died at the Mill Road Infirmary aged 76 years.

Amelia Hart (née Beales) (1844 – 12 November 1894)

Amelia was the daughter of Robert and Mary Beales. Her father worked as a tailor and she grew up at Willow Place and then 11 Nelson Street before marrying Edward Hart aged 25 years old.  She died in November 1894.

Mary Hart

No records for Mary Hart have been found, so this might be in memory of Edward and Amelia’s daughter Harriett Amelia Mary (1875-1900).  She died aged c.25 years old and the death was registered in Linton.

Sidney Robert Hart (April 1879 – March 1880)

Sidney died at John Street aged 11 months old and was buried on 27 March.
