In Loving Memory of JOHN CHASTENEY HARVEY d March 25 1910 aged 58
Charlotte Harvey (née Stubbing) (1844 – 20 November 1920)
Charlotte was the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Stubbing. She was born in Great Wilbraham, and her father died when she was c.3 years old. She grew up on the High Street in Great Wilbraham with her sibilings, and her mother worked as a launderess. She married John Harvey in 1885.
John was a carpenter and joiner, and they lived at 3 Pink Street (1891). By at least 1896 they had moved to 3 Park Street, and were letting out rooms and running and Lodging House. Charlotte was widowed in 1910, and she stayed at Park Street running the Lodging House (1911). She died in 1920.
John Chasteney Harvey (4 January 1853 – 25 March 1910)
John was born in Wymondham in Norfolk, and baptised there on 6 February 1853. He was the son of George and Eliza (née Chasteney) Harvey, and his father worked as a carpenter/joiner. The family lived in Lambeth (1861) before moving to Cambridge. In 1871 John was living with his parents and siblings at 74 Russell Street and was working as a carpenter, following in his fathers footsteps. He died aged 57 years old.
The ages on the engraving are inconsistent with the ages according to official records/census returns. As John and Charlotte did not have any children, maybe these were incorrectly remembered by those who erected the grave monument.
