[west kerb:]

‘Elizabeth Hodson died March 23rd 1881 aged 68 years’

[south kerb:]

‘Elizabeth Wiles | John Hodson |
who died July 13 1894 aged 51
beloved wife and mother loved and respected by all who knew her.’

[east kerb inaccessible, but inscription recorded by CFHS as:]

‘In loving memory of John Hodson
died Apr 6 1908 aged 68’

Elizabeth Hodson (c.1813-81)

At the time of her death aged 68, Elizabeth was described as ‘of Pembroke College’.

Elizabeth Wiles Hodson (née Multon [or Mutton]) (c.1843-94)

Elizabeth was the daughter of Frederick Multon [or Mutton], 54 Radegund Buildings, Cambridge. She and John Hodson married on 10 September 1878.

John Hodson (c.1840-1908)

John, son of William Hodson, was college butler – presumably of Pembroke College. At the time of his marriage to Elizabeth Wiles Multon [or Mutton] on 10 September 1878, he was living at 16 Pembroke Street, Cambridge. At the time of his death aged 68, a widower, he was living at 7 Albert Almshouses, Cambridge.
