Harry was the son of William and  Anna (née  Lillingstone) and grew up at 11 Perowne Street. His father was a carpenter who then became the landlord of the Brookfield House Inn, 416 Mill Road (1891).  By the age of 22 Harry was working as a college pastry cook. He married Florence (Flora)  Louise Baker (1877-) in 1902 and the couple had at least two daughters: Irene Florence (1903-1987) and Ena Anna (1914-1997). The family lived at 50 Brookfields and then 8 Sedgwick Street (at least 1930 onwards). By 1939 Harry had retired and he died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
