Charles Holder (1787 – 5 June 1858)

Charles was born in Benson, Oxfordshire and baptised there on 30 January 1788. He was the son of George and Elizabeth and married Sarah Biffin.  Charles worked as a publican and they lived on Commercial Road, Belgrave (1841) and then the Waterside pub, Wandsworth (1851).  The couple had one son: Joseph Bowen (1824-1852). They moved to live in Cambridge, it is thought to be near to Sarah’s sister Frances and lived at St. Edward’s Passage where Charles died aged 71 years old.

Sarah Holder (née Biffen) ( 1797 – 18 March 1863)

Sarah was born in Bridgwater, Somerset and baptised at St. Mary’s Church on 22 June 1797.  She was the daughter of tailor Nichola Biffin (1766-1819) and Hester (née Tutton) (1766-1820). In 1861 she was living at 11 St. Edward’s Passage with two lodgers and her niece Esther Biffen and died at 3 King’s Parade, the home of her sister Frances, and brother in law John Swan.

Frances and John Swan are also buried in the St. Mary the Great part of Mill Road Cemetery but their grave has not yet been identified.
