Thyrza Rebecca Holder (née Shackell) (1874 – 9 September 1914)
Thyrza was born in Kentish Town, and was the daughter of carpenter Alfred and his wife Rebecca. Aged 17 she was living on Northgate in Bury St Edmunds and working as an under housemaid. She married Harrison Holder in 1899 and the couple had two sons: Harold John (1900-1964) and Leonard Alfred (1907-1990). Harrison worked as a railway signalman and they lived at 19 Argyle Street (1901) and then at 18 Hemingford Road (1911). Thyrza died aged 40 years old.
Harrison John Holder (23 September 1874 – 28 December 1944)
Harrison was the son of John and Sophia Holder. He grew up at Primrose Cottages on Cavendish Road and his father was a railway foreman. Aged 16 he was working as a ‘gentleman’s houseboy’ but later also worked on the railway as a signalman.
He was widowed aged 39 years old, and married for a second time in 1916 to widow Ada Thurley (née Lank) (1885-1921) who had a daughter the same age as his youngest son Leonard. They had one daughter Jean A T (1921-), but it is believed that Ada died as a result of childbirth in November 1921. . He was still living at 18 Hemingford Road in 1944, and died at the Leys School Annex of Addenbrookes Hospital aged 70 years old.
