James Jefkins (1853 – 5 June 1910)
James was born in Wantage in Berkshire. Aged 16 he was living in London, and working as a toymaker. He married Elizabeth [Lizzie] Sutton in Plumstead on 25 December 1876 when he was 23 years old. By this time he was a corporal in the army. Lizzy and James had at least three children and the places of their births seem to suggest he was moving around in his role in the army. Rose [1878-1907] born in Dublin, Elizabeth [1882-] born in Tralee Ireland, Mary [1890-] born in Shincliffe Kent.
By 1891 the family were living in Cambridge, which is where Lizzie Jefkins originated from. They lived at 120 York Street, and James worked as a labourer. He died aged 57 years old.
Rose Louise W Jefkins (21 July 1878 – 8 December 1907)
Rose was born in Dublin in 1878, but by the age of 13 was living in Cambridge with her family. In 1901 she was living at St Faiths School on Trumpington Road and employed there as a housemaid. She died in 1907 aged 29 years old.
Lizzie Jefkins moved to West Hampstead after her husband’s death – and lived with her daughter Elizabeth there. She died in 1926 in Willesden, Middlesex.
