This column on a 4 tiered plinth with barley twist metal surround is still in good condition although some of the metal letters are missing. It stands just off the south path next to the west path and opposite the side of the lodge.

George Livett (c.1800 – 14 December 1870)
George was born in St. Neots, and was the son of James and Sarah Livett. He was living in Cambridge by 1831 as he appears on the Electoral Roll for that year. He married Emily Hannah Chaplin in 1843 when he was 43 years old.
Emily and George had at least five children: Emily Sarah (1848-1920), George Chaplin (1850-1899), Jane (Jessie) Ann (1852-1911), Hannah (1852-) and James John Willoughby (1855-1936).
In 1851 the family were living at 36 Hills Road, and George’s occupation is stated as ‘landowner and investment from houses’. The Livetts were employing 3 domestic servants at the time. In 1861 the family were living at 52 Hills Road, In 1870 he was still living on Hills Road, but died in Royston in December of that year aged 70 years old. He left an estate valued at under £30,000.
Jessie Ann Johnson(nee Livett) (c.1852 – 5 December 1911)
Jessie was born Jane Ann, but appears to have been known as Jessie. She grew up on Hills Road, and married the Rev. Arthur Newton Johnson in 1881 when she was 29 years old. Arthur was a congregational minister, and he and Jessie had five children: Jessie Muriel Livett (1881-1953), Emily Dorothy Fanny (1885-1935), Arthur Percy Livett (1885-1959), Kathleen Margaret (1886-) and Violet Hannah (1888-1969).
Their eldest daughter Jessie was born in Manchester, but then they appear to have moved to in Leicester, where Arthur Johnson had a parish and the other children were born there. In 1891 they were living on Fosse Road, in Leicester. By 1911 they were living at 28 Lee Park in Blackheath – the family were looked after by a ladies’ companion, cook, and parlourmaid. Her probate records show that she died in rather sad circumstances at Catford Bridge Railway Station in December of that year. She was 59 years old.
James John Willoughby Livett (20 November 1855 – 2 September 1936)
James was the youngest of the Emily and George Livett’s five children. He grew up at 52 Hills Road, and studied law at London University. In 1891 he was living at Beechwood, 41 Hills Road with his mother and sister Emilyand working as a barrister. In 1901 he was still working as a barrister, but is recorded as being a boarder in Bath. He died at 100 Crowthorne Road in Westcliff-on-Sea at the age of 80. He left an estate valued at £12,638 13s.
Emily Hannah Livett (nee Chaplin) (14 March 1819 – 6 September 1894)
Emily was the daughter of John and Ann Chaplin and was born in Fulbourn. She married George Livett when she was 24 years old. She was widowed at the age of 51, and continued to live at 52 Hills Road (1881/1891) and then at Beechwood, 41 Hills Road (1901). In 1894 she was living at Beechwood, Broadhurst Gardens in Hampstead, but died at 38 Caledonia Place in Bristol. She was 75 years old and left an estate valued at £9,062 2s 7d.
Emily Sarah Livett (c.1848 – 27 May 1920)
Emily was the eldest daughter of Emily and George Livett. She was born in Cambridge, and lived with her mother on Hills Road. She is recorded there in 1881/1891/1901. In 1911 she was living with her niece Jessie Muriel Johnson [daughter of her sister Jessie] in New Barnet. They were living there with a domestic servant, and Emily is recorded as having no occupation. In 1920 she was living at 2 Argyle Road in Westcliffe-on-Sea, and died at the Victoria Nursing Home in the town aged 72 years old. She left an estate valued at £2,486 9s 6d.
Arthur Percy Livett Johnson (17 November 1885 – 14 October 1959)
Arthur was the son of the Rev, Arthur and Jessie Johnson (nee Livett). He was born in Leicester. He was a dentist, and studied at Durham University, qualifying in 1904. In 1907 he was working at Guy’s Hospital in London. He married Nancy Joan Leslie (known as Joa)] in 1915 in Richmond, Surrey. Joan and Arthur had at least one son: Derek L Johnson (1910. Arthur lived in Forest Edge, Wooton in Hampshire for all his married life, and died there in 1959 aged 73 years old. He was buried in Cambridge with his mother and grandparents.
Joan Johnson (nee Leslie) (14 December 1886 – 25 November 1980)
Joan was the wife of Arthur Percy Livett. She was born in Mauchline in Scotland. In 1911 she was working as a nurse at the Camberwell House Asylum, Peckham Road in Camberwell. She married Arthur Livett in 1915 and lived in Hampshire. She died in Herefordshire in 1980 at the age of 93 years old.
George Chaplin Livett (c.1850 – 24 December 1899)
George was the second of Emily and George Livett’s five children. He was brought up on Hills Road, and went to Downing College, Cambridge in 1867, gaining a BA in 1871. MA and LLM in 1874 and LLD in 1882. He served as a lieutenant with the Cambridge Rifle Volunteers in 1879, before becoming a solicitor in 1874. He worked as a practising solicitor in Soham and Cambridge.
He married Blanche Elizabeth Chaplin on 19th July 1876 at the Congregational Chapel in Fulbourn. Blanche was a cousin on his maternal side, and the daughter of Abraham and Martha Chaplin. Blanche and George had at least one son – Ronald George Chaplin Livett [1877-1945]. In 1881 he was living in Soham with Blanche and Ronald. In 1885 they were living on Warkworth Street in Cambridge, and George was practising at Churchgate Street.
George was living at Orchardcroft in Wicken in 1899, but died whilst visiting his brother James in Hermitage Lane, Finchley Road, London in December 1899. He was 49 years old. He left an estate valued at £3,786 6s. 11d.
Blanche Livett died 18 months after her husband – in July 1901 aged 44 years old.
