Anne Harvey Jones (née Harris) (8 March 1877 – 15 February 1963)
Annie was the daughter of William and Catherine (née Cream) and was raised at 3 Shamrock Passage (1881) and Newmarket Road (1891/1901). Her father was a marine store dealer (a licensed broker who bought and sold used cordage, bunting, rags, timber, metal and other general waste materials). They usually sorted the purchased waste by kind & grade and also repaired, mended and recovered). Annie married Charles Jones in 1906 and they had at least seven children: Ada Florence (1907-1997), Mary Ann Katherine (1909-), Charles Edwin (1911-1976), John William (1913-1989), George Albert Nicholas (1915-1949), Edwin Horace (1917-1943) and Frank Albert (1920-2001). Charles worked as a bricklayer and the family lived at 19 Caroline Place (1911) and 12 Cambridge Place (1927).
She was widowed in 1931 and in 1939 was living at 195 Ross Street with three of her children. Son Edwin died in Thailand in a Prisoner of War camp in 1943 and Annie Jones died aged 85 years old.
Charles Herbert Jones (1884 – 14 February 1931)
Charles was the son of Edwin Arthur Jones and Mary Ann (née Langran). Edwin Jones was a tailor and Charles grew up at 11 Broad Street. He served as a Lance Corporal with the Labour Corps in the 1st World War and died in Cambridge aged 46 years old.
George Albert Nicholas Jones (12 May 1915 – 22 June 1949)
George was the third of Charles and Annie’s five sons and married Margaret Annie Rosalie Charlotte Banham (1909-1983) in 1934. The couple are believed to have had two children and lived at 37 Suez Road. George worked as a bricklayer’s labourer and died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 34 years old.
