CATHERINE KEEN d April 27 1950 aged 81
Isabella A Keen (18 January 1855 – 7 February 1941)
Isabella was the daughter of Rev Charles Thomas and Harriett Keen. She was the second eldest of the ten Keen children, and was born in Homerton, London. As her father was a Baptist minster she moved around the country extensively as a child – from Ireland, to Shropshire, Surry and Lambeth. After her father retired the family moved back to Cambridge c.1889 and lived at 34 Emery Stret , 7 North Terrace , 14 Mawson Road . Harriett Keen, Isabella’s mother died in 1908 and Isabella then lived with her father and sister Catherine at 146 Tenison Road. She is noted on the 1911 census as being Housekeeper for her father and sister.
In the census of 1939 she was living at 54 Mawson Road with her sisters Ada and Catherine. She died aged 86 years old.
Catherine Emily Keen (2 August 1868 – 27 April 1950)
Catherine was the ninth of the ten children born to Rev Charles Thomas and Harriett Keen. She appears to have also been known as Kath through her life. Kath was born in Bridgenorth in Shropshire, and then grew up in Lambeth and Redhill as her father moved with the Baptist movement. Aged 23 years old she was working as a Governess in Hunstanton. She lived with her family in Cambridge from at least 1901 onwards and worked as a music teacher.
She was living at 111 Blinco Grove 20 Earl Street [1920-1925 at least] – probably also with her sister Isabella. She was living at 54 Mawson Road in 1939. She died in Ely aged 81 years old.
