Albert was born in 1891 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. He was the youngest of seven children born to John Kent (1854-1928) and Marianne Kent (formerly Mary Ann May, née Basford). Albert attended the Wesleyan Sunday School in Hobson Street, Cambridge and in 1900 he was awarded a silver star for his studying at their ceremony. His siblings (William and Ruth) were awarded special certificates for their studying at the same ceremony. In 1911 Albert was still living at home with his parents and five of his six older siblings. He was working as a tailor. When war broke out Albert enlisted at Cambridge as Private 26295, Bedfordshire Regiment. At some point he transferred and became Private 26051, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. He was killed in action on 3 September 1916. He was commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France. As well as being commemorated on this family grave he was commemorated on the Cambridge Guildhall War Memorial and at Ely Cathedral.
