Ted Kimmence (1895–1915), Lance Corporal (1145) in the 1st Battalion the Cambridgeshire Regiment, was killed in action in northern France on 12 May 1915, aged 20. He is buried in the Poelcapelle British Cemetery in Belgium, as well as being remembered on this family grave. He is also commemorated on the war memorial in the Guildhall, Cambridge and the war memorial for the Cambridge Gas Company on Newmarket Road.

Ted was born in 1895 in Cambridge. He was the third of four children born to Noah Kimmence and Ellen Kimmence (née Glazin). Before war service, Ted had been a gas fitter with the Cambridge Gas Company. His brother Stanley was a cement tester at the Cement Works and his sister, Elsie, a tailoress. Ted enlisted in the Cambridge and he became a Lance Corporal (1145) in the 1st Battalion, the Cambridgeshire Regiment. He was killed in action in northern France on 12 May 1915, aged 20.
