John Kimpton (15 June 1809 – 11 January 1892)

John was born in Burwell and was the son of Thomas and Susanna (née Battle).   He married Rebekah Reynolds on 16 October 1838 in Waterbeach and they had at least five children: Mary Ann (1840-1917), William (1843-1908), Esther (1845-1899), Arthur (1847-1912) and Hannah (Annie) (1850-1927). John was a master wheelwright and they lived at 15 High Street in Horninsea (1841-at least 1871).   By 1881 John had retired and the couple had moved to live at 10  John Street – maybe they moved to be closer to son Arthur and daughter Annie.  John died at John Street aged 82 years old.

Rebekah Kimpton (née Reynolds) (29 May 1815 – 8 September 1892)

Rebekah was born in Waterbeach and was the daughter of smallholder Daniel Reynolds and his wife Sarah. She married John Kimpton when she was 23 years old and died a few months after him, also at John Street.  She was 77 years old when she died (although her grave monument reads 76 years old.
