Elizabeth Ann (Annie) Maltby (née Kitson) (c.1856 – 9 November 1930)

Annie was born in Great Eversden, the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann (née Jakes) Kitson.  She grew up in the village, where her father worked as an agricultural labourer. She married Augustus Maltby (1856-1887) in Scarborough in 1880 and they had four children: Annie Ellen (1880-1961), William Augustus (1883-1932), Percy Arthur (1886-1953) and Frances Maud (1887-1952). The family lived at 23 South Street and Augustus worked as a waiter. Annie was widowed in September 1887 and she continued to live at South Street, working as a laundress. The census of 1901/1911 record her as having an additional son: Stanley Francis (1892-1970), who might have been adopted, or born illegitimate. Annie died aged 74 years old.
