Alfred George Maw (28 February 1875 –  16 May 1938)

Alfred was the son of Henry and Lydia (née Howchin) and was bapitsed at the Harley Street Congregational Chapel on 16 June 1878. His father was a vellum bookbinder and he grew up at 25 Wellington Road, Bromley. Alfred worked as a clerk and in 1901 was documented as living at home and working as a matchmaker’s clerk.

He married Susan Harriett Lott (1878-1961) on 19 May 1902also  at the Harley Street Congregational Chapel and they had two children: Alfred George (1903-1986) and Grace Dorothy (1908-2000).  In 1911 the family were living at 21 Malmesbury Road, Bow and Alfred was working asa  ‘commercial clerk and adverts inspector’.  By at least 1921 the whole family had moved to Cambridge and lived at 42 St. Barnabas Road. Alfred died at home aged 63 years old.

His widow Susan moved to live with her son Alfred and daughter in law Gladys. She died in the New Forest in 1961.
