Ellen grew up at 4 Gold Street and was the daughter of baker William Morgan and his wife Elizabeth. She worked as dressmaker (1871) before marrying Elijah Pannell in 1879.  Elijah was a carpenter/joiner and they had four children: Lily Maud (1880-1945), Nellie Caroline (1885-1970), William (1888-1957) and one more child who died as an infant.  The family lived at 4 Parsonage Street (1881), Withersfield Road, Haverhill (1891), Romsey Road (1901) and 245 Mill Road (at least 1911 onwards). Ellen died at home in April 1922.
