Alfred was born in 1891 in Bedford, Bedfordshire.  He was one of twelve children born to William Arthur Peak (1865-1933) and Elizabeth Summers Peak (née Allen).  In 1911 Alfred was a boarder and living at 5 Priory Terrace, Downham Market, Cambridgeshire.  He was working as a butcher.  When war broke out Alfred enlisted at Sunstreet as Private 3061, 7th (City of London) Battalion and he was living in Nunhead, London.  Alfred was killed in action on 25 September 1915.  He was commemorated on Panels 130-135, Loos Memorial in France.  He was also commemorated at St Mary’s, Bedford.

PRIVATE A.E. PEAK

Private Alfred Edward Peak 7th City of London Royal Fusiliers, who was killed in action in France on Sept. 25th, was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Peak St. John’s-street, Bedford.  His age was 24.
