Thomas Priestley (1868 – 21 August 1911)

Thomas was born in Boston, Lincolnshire and was the son of  tallow chandler Thomas and his wife Sarah (née Whyman).  By the time he was three years old his father had died and his mother  later worked as a launderess. Aged 22 Thomas was lodging in Stowmarket and working as the manager of a Co-op store before marrying Lillias Naylor on 22 August 1892 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.  They had two children: Doris Beatrice (1900-1967) and another child who died as an infant.

The family  lived in King’s Lynn (where Doris was born) and Fletton, Northamptonshire where Thomas managed a grocer’s store (1901) before moving to live at Gainsborough House, 19a Mill Road by at least 1910.  In 1911 Thomas was documented as working as a commerical traveller for a biscuit company and died at home aged 43 years old.

Lillias Mary Priestley  (née Naylor) (d11 April 1871 – 10 April 1947)

Lillias was born in Gainsborough and was the daughter of cowkeeper Robert and his wife Emma (née Dewick). She married aged 21 years old and remained living at Gainsborough House on Mill Road until she died in 1947.
