Ellen Florence Reed (née Dixon) (1869-1946)

Charles Dixon (c.1840-1912) and Emma Dixon (née Leggett) (c.1847-1924).  In 1871 the family were living at 25 Grafton Street, Cambridge.  In 1881 the family was living at 26 Grafton Street, Cambridge.  In 1891 Ellen was living at home at 26 Grafton Street but she was working as a ‘fur trimmer’.  She may have been helping her father, who was a bootmaker. Ellen married Joseph Thurlow Reed (1869-1953) in 1894 in Cambridge.  Ellen died on 21 February 1946 in Cambridge.

Leopold Joseph Reed (1900-1900)

Leopold was born in 1900 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.  He was the third of five sons born to Joseph Thurlow Reed (1869-1953) and Ellen Florence Reed (née Dixon) (1869-1946).  He died in October 1900 in Cambridge, aged 5 months.

Joseph Thurlow Reed (1869-1953)

Joseph was born in 1869 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.  He was baptised on 12 August 1869 in the Primitive Methodist Church, Cambridge.  He was one of at least nine children born to Henry Reed (c.1835-1905) and Mary Ann Reed (née Thurlow) (c.1834-1918).  In 1861 the family were living at 62 New Street, Cambridge.  In 1871 the family were living at 37 South Street, Cambridge.  In 1881 the family were living at 178 East Road, Cambridge.  Joseph married Ellen Florence Dixon (1869-1946) in 1894 in Cambridge.  They had five sons: William Charles (1896-1981); Albert Victor (1897-1980); Leopold Joseph (1900-1900); Sidney (1902-1989); and Stanley (1904-1989).  By 1901 the family were living at 61 Russell Street, Cambridge.  Joseph was working as a mail messenger for the Great Eastern Railway.  By 1911 the family were living at 118 Gwydir Street, Cambridge.  Joseph was working as a ‘Postman Acting Stationary Mail Porter’.  Joseph died on 17 April 1953 in Cambridge.

Two of James’ brothers were also buried in this cemetery: James John Thurlow Reed (1856-1933) and Alfred Thurlow Reed (1871-1936).
